the way up a very steep hill. We couldn't get enough speed to continue
up, and in the process of backing down we went off the road.
No cell service & no other vehicles for miles - and a storm is brewing.
After almost 3 hours using cables & jacks and wedging stones and
branches under tires, we finally got it free! Minus one running board
plus one dented bumper.
Luckily the rain held off or we'd most likely still be there!
The pic above is after we got the back wheels back on the road.

I'm so glad you're alright! I hope goes well for the rest of the trip! It already sounds so fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I'm so glad it turned out ok, but 3 hours, Wow! You have quite the story to tell though. I hope this affected his tip, lol. Well the rest of your trip seems lovely, and I hope it's smooth sailing from here on out.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty scary, but it's a great story! Better than just saying "we made it ok." Much better vacation story to say "we made it ok, eventually!"
ReplyDeleteHowever, I can't help but think of all the stupid horror movies that begin with a bad driver who gets the tourists into vehicle trouble, with no nearby contact, a storm brewing, and they decide to get out and walk.
(cue scary music here)
Glad you were ok!!
I think you must've gotten the worst driver in Panama.
ReplyDeleteLucky You!!
